From 13th century love poetry, to 21ist century technology, The Sunrise Ruby earrings encompass it all. In addition to being a literary translation in jewellery form of Persian poet Rumi’s love poem, the Sunrise Ruby earrings, 3D printing technology is incorporated. Why 3D printing you ask? Due to the geometric array of the rays, I laid the design out in a CAD program, prior to it being 3D printed, then cast in 18K gold. Also, there are two identical earrings, except for the gemstone. A slight mistake, and that’s all anybody would see. In this case, 3D printing provides absolute precision of angles and form. Twice. BUT, 3D printing is a tool. It does not make you a good designer.
