UKRAINIAN FESTIVAL SEPT 15TH - 17TH, 2017

BIA Update: Ukrainian Festival

Just last week, the City of Toronto and the organizers of the Ukrainian Festival came to an agreement that the Festival will proceed under new policing parameters to keep festival goers and our neighbourhood safe. The hours of the Festival will be:

Friday, Sept 15th         5pm – 11pm
Saturday, Sept 16th    9am – 11pm
Sunday, Sept 17th      12pm – 7pm

What BIA Members need to know:

Sidewalk Sale Permit in place for all 3 days
Street closure between Runnymede Road and Jane Street
starting Friday, Sept 15th at 9:00am to Sunday, Sept 17th 11:59pm

The BIA uses WiFi technology to track the number of attendees. Last year we ran a pilot of the technology at Windermere to track the number of attendees and when they returned to shop the neighbourhood. The positive results are below.

FESTIVAL HEADLINER ANNOUNCED

Picture The Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival is happy to welcome back the Mad Heads back to the Northland Power Main Stage as our 2017 feature performer. Mad Heads are the legend of Ukrainian rock music and they know how to get a party started. Recently VADYM KRASNOOKY came to Canada to take care of some new music projects which then resulted in the formation of a Canadian version of Mad Heads XL appropriately named Mad Heads CA. Mad Heads CA continues with the original front man, professional musicians, the best hit songs of the band, the same positive attitude, and great live rock-n-roll.

WELCOME EVANKA OSMAK, 2017 TUF PARADE MARSHAL

Picture Evanka's journey into television broadcasting was far from the norm. Before TV, the Oakville, Ontario native was an engineer. She earned a civil engineering degree from Queen's University and worked for a couple of years in that field. However she decided to leave that behind and pursue broadcasting in 2005. After receiving a diploma in radio and television broadcasting at Seneca College, Evanka worked at CICX-FM in Orillia, Ontario as a news anchor, then moved to Yuma, Arizona to work at KYMA-TV for two years, before returning to Canada. Osmak has been a regular on Sportsnet since 2007 and anchors the Prime Time edition of Sportsnet Central weeknights alongside Ken Reid. She'll return to Sportsnet Central from maternity leave in October.

Join us at the Festival Parade along Bloor Street between Jane St and High Park on Saturday at 11am.
