CurbTO program re-opens to allow temporary pick-up zones for small businesses
The City of Toronto’s CurbTO program is now accepting requests from small businesses for temporary parking pick-up zones. The program allows main street businesses to provide easier curbside pickup for customers—helping to support these businesses while Toronto is in the Grey – Lockdown category of the Province of Ontario’s COVID-19 response framework. Main street businesses and BIAs can register for the program.
Government of Canada announces new supports for hardest hit sectors
The Government of Canada yesterday announced new supports for sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, including tourism and hospitality. The government proposes to work with financial institutions in the near term to offer loans on more generous terms to businesses in these sectors. The federal government is also proposing renewed funding to support the live events and arts sectors.
Province proposes cap on delivery fees to support local restaurants
The Ontario government is introducing new legislation that would protect restaurants from high delivery fees. The legislation would cap fees charged by food delivery companies in areas where indoor dining is prohibited to help more small and independent restaurants stay in business.
