Winter Cheer Scavenger Hunt Launches This Week!
The BIA is pleased to be hosting a fun, free, interactive Scavenger Hunt for the general public from January 22nd to February 28th in Bloor West Village.
The game is designed to encourage exploration and discovery of Bloor West Village BIA,
our community area and our valued local businesses.
What is it? Eight (8) illustrated storefront windows are the foundation for the program. Scavenger hunt participants will be directed in the self-guided game throughout the BIA to collect and answer clues about BIA businesses, in order to win prizes.
Program posters will be distributed this week, Social Media promotion kicks off, promotion in Neighbur Magazine and other media. HELP US SHARE THE NEWS!
City of Toronto opens CaféTO registration for local restaurant and bar operators
The City of Toronto announced that local restaurant and bar operators interested in expanding their outdoor dining space into a curb lane and onto sidewalks in 2022 can now register for the CaféTO program. The program also supports the expansion of outdoor patios on private property through temporary use Zoning Bylaws that permit larger outdoor patios than would otherwise be permitted. CaféTO Property Improvement Program provides funding to improve exterior spaces
The City of Toronto's new CaféTO Property Improvement Program provides funding to eligible owners and tenants of commercial and industrial properties in Toronto – including CaféTO program participants – to help improve the appearance and/or function of the property's exterior spaces. Grants cover 50 per cent of the costs of eligible property or site improvements up to a maximum amount of $5,000. Additional grant funding of up to $2,500 is available for exterior accessibility improvements such as the installation of ramps, handrails and other accessibility devices. See more details and apply.

Applications open for Ontario Business Costs Rebate Program
Online applications for the new Ontario Business Costs Rebate Program are now open. The provincial government program provides eligible businesses that are required to close or reduce capacity with rebate payments for up to 100 per cent of the property tax and energy costs they incur while subject to public health measures in response to the Omicron variant. To receive the grant, a small business must be required to close due to public health orders that took effect on January 5, and have fewer than 100 employees. Apply today.

Commercial Space Rehabilitation Grant Program to help operators and owners of vacant storefronts
The City of Toronto's new Commercial Space Rehabilitation Grant Program is offering matching funding of 50 per cent to commercial business operators and owners of vacant storefronts (or, in certain limited circumstances, at risk of becoming vacant) to undertake interior improvements. The program is a key part of the Toronto Main Street Recovery and Rebuild Initiative. Applications will be accepted until February 28, 2022 or when funds are expended, whichever comes first, and are considered on a first received, first reviewed basis.
