Summer patio season is almost here! Bloor West Village BIA is kicking it off with a fabulous Social Media promotion!

GIVEAWAY ALERT:  WIN 1 of 8 Local Dining Experiences

Get involved and participate in the Bloor West StreetFest Event July 16th

There’s Something for Everyone! 
Bloor West Village BIA will host its 4th Annual StreetFest event between Runnymede Rd and Armadale on Bloor Street. 
This event attracts 25,000 visitors to the village! 
Get Ready For: Carnival Rides, a Classic Car Show, Rock Climbing Wall presented by Meridian Credit Union, Fabulous Face Painting presented by Sidorova Inwood Realty, President’s Choice SuperDogs presented by Ruffin’s Pet Centres, Vendor & Artisan Village, Live Entertainment, a BIA-Wide Sidewalk Sale and so much more...

If you would like to participate, please note there are NO FEES involved for BIA members!
To have a booth in the festival grounds you must be committed to staying for the entirety of the event (10am-10pm). Amplified Live Music on Patios program expands to include Bloor West Village!

The City of Toronto announced that its Amplified Live Music on Patios pilot program has been expanded this year. Running from May through November 2022, the program allows amplified live music on CaféTO patios to add energy and vitality to participating main streets. Find more information about the program.


City of Toronto seeks input from businesses and residents on Official Plan review

The City of Toronto's Planning Division is seeking input from businesses and residents on the Official Plan review. In particular, City Planning is looking for feedback on draft employment policies, future directions and more than 160 identified Major Transit Station Areas. The Official Plan is Toronto’s roadmap for land use and sets out the long-term vision and policies that help guide decision-making on land development, economic growth, the environment and more. Find more information and register to join an upcoming online town hall, open house or policy-focused meeting.

Information session on Starter Company Plus grant program for entrepreneurs

The City of Toronto will be launching a general business stream of the Starter Company Plus grant program in June and is holding a virtual information session for prospective applicants on May 26, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Starter Company Plus supports eligible entrepreneurs looking to build their small businesses by providing training, mentoring and assistance applying for a micro grant of $5,000. Register to attend the webinar.

Federal government appeals to businesses to help support displaced Ukrainians

The federal government is inviting Canadian businesses to provide support to displaced Ukrainians arriving in Canada. Businesses can provide assistance through the new Canadian Industry for Ukraine online portal, which provides a simple way to submit donations, including financial aid, temporary housing, cellphones/tablets and more. Find out how to get involved.

City of Toronto issues call for submissions for Bicycle Industry Directory

The City of Toronto is preparing the 2022 edition of the Bicycle Industry Directory and is accepting submissions from Greater Toronto Region companies in the bike supply chain. The directory includes locally-made and assembled bikes as well as retailers, bike repair and rental services, non-profit bike hubs, scooters and light electric vehicles. Companies interested in being listed are invited to complete the 2022 directory submission form by May 31 at 5 p.m.

Business Incubation and Commercialization Grant Program accepting applications from non-profits

The City of Toronto's Business Incubation and Commercialization Grant Program is accepting applications. Grants are available for not-for-profit incubators and accelerators with a demonstrated track record and whose primary goals are business and job creation and the development of new ideas. The program does not provide grants to individual for-profit businesses. Learn more and apply before May 27.

Deep Retrofit Challenge offers grants for energy retrofits

The City of Toronto launched a new program to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from existing buildings in Toronto. The Deep Retrofit Challenge offers grants of up to $500,000 to support deeper-than-planned energy retrofits in up to 16 buildings in Toronto, with the goal of accelerating emissions reductions and identifying pathways to net zero that can be replicated in other buildings. Eligible buildings include existing multi-unit residential and commercial office buildings. Register for a webinar being held May 26 at noon to learn more.
