Small business owners may be eligible for a reduction in property tax
The City has implemented a small business property tax subclass and small business owners may be eligible for a reduction in property tax. Find out if the property you own or rent is eligible by visiting the Small Business Property Tax Subclass webpage, or on Open Data. Tenants of eligible small business properties should speak to their landlord about receiving this reduction.

Honour the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation with an Every Child Matters t-shirt
The City of Toronto's Indigenous employee circle – Ambe Maamowisdaa – has created Every Child Matters t-shirts to honour the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, recognizing residential school survivors and those children that did not return home. With your purchase of each t-shirt, $1.50 is donated to the Native Women's Resource Centre of Toronto and $1.50 to the Ambe Maamowisdaa Circle for cultural initiatives. Ambe Maamowisdaa means "Let's go work together in a good way". Purchase your t-shirt before August 23.

Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund accepting applications
The Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund – a partnership between the Government of Canada, Black-led business organizations and financial institutions – continues to accept applications. The fund was set up to provide loans up to $250,000 to Black business owners and entrepreneurs across the country. Loan applications are being administered through the Federation of African Canadian Economics. Learn more.

City of Toronto encourages businesses to participate in single-use waste reduction program
The City of Toronto is addressing single-use waste with the launch of Reducing Single-Use, part of its larger ReduceWasteTO program. The first stage of the City's Single-Use and Takeaway Items Reduction Strategy, it will provide businesses with examples of simple, voluntary actions that they can take to eliminate the unnecessary use of single-use and takeaway items. The program will also recognize and showcase businesses already taking action to eliminate their single-use waste, as well as service providers with innovative business solutions or a service that helps businesses reduce single-use waste. Women Entrepreneurship Strategy Ecosystem Fund information session
The Government of Canada announced a new call for proposals for projects under the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy Ecosystem Fund. Under this new second call, $40 million had been allocated to support projects that will provide business supports for women entrepreneurs and strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Canada. Youth entrepreneurship event to support Black, newcomer and marginalized youth
A free youth entrepreneurship conference is planned to help Black, newcomer and Most-Vulnerable-Person youth build their businesses. Attendees of the Branded conference will hear inspiring speakers and be able to access a variety of business supports, including photography, group consulting from business experts, one-on-one mentorship, and networking opportunities.
